About Skibba Builders

Thank you for the opportunity to share with you who we are and what we do at Skibba Builders.

Whether you choose to custom build a home, build an addition, or renovate your present home, the building process has become much more complex over the years. There are numerous decisions to make from the initial planning stage through construction. The choices can seem overwhelming.

At Skibba Builders, we can offer you Jack’s expertise and experience. Jack will help incorporate your ideas, explore possibilities, and make suggestions on what products and techniques best meet your specific needs.

Credibility is earned over time. Jack has been part of the building industry for over 40 years. In a few months he will be celebrating 33 years as a general contractor doing business as Skibba Builders. During that time, Jack has earned the respect of his peers and subcontractors that he works with. Jack is part of the crew working on the job, involved in all stages of construction. We believe in doing things right the first time and it is our policy never to cut corners, which insures a superior finished product.

Respect and loyalty make a good formula for a family business. We didn’t start out that way, but over the years we have added Bob, Jack’s brother, who has worked with us for 30 years. Among Bob’s gifts is his precision in trim work. Son, Matthew has been part of the crew for 11 years, starting out after High School. Daughter, Michele, who has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, came aboard in 1994. She oversees the office, offers support to clients, researches availability of products, and finds answers to questions in a timely manner, which results in making the building process much less stressful. Wife, Elaine, oversees the public relations work including the parade of homes and the home show. In addition to family, Scott has been part of the team for 2 years.

Awards

To date, Jack’s efforts have twice been recognized at the Wisconsin Builders Association State Convention. Members of the Wisconsin Remodelers’ Council submit projects from throughout the state in different categories. They are judged and one winner is selected in each category.

Skibba Builder’s first winning entry was in the Category of Room Additions over $60,000. The client for this project wanted to expand their 1960’s ranch-style house located on the Wisconsin River. The home had limited storage because there was no basement, provided little privacy for overnight guests, and they wanted to expand their master bedroom. A 17’ x 28’ family room was added that included two walls of energy-efficient transom windows to take advantage of the river view, and a 19’ x 36’ addition including an octagon room with 10’ ceilings on the north end that included a walk-in shower and sauna.
The Second award was in the category of “Whole House Remodel”. The demolition work on the existing walls and roof left only two sections of wall on the east and west side. The existing 7’6” walls were extended to make them 9 ft. The roof lines were completely changed which included a roof over the screened in porch. All new plumbing, heating, and electrical were installed. The fireplace, kitchen and bathroom were relocated. The siding was replaced with premium-grade cedar shake siding which adds to the charm of a cottage by the lake. And existing deck was removed from the front of the cottage and replaced with a custom designed cedar deck and screened-in porch.
